Q1: Is moss really bad for my roof?
A: Yes, moss can be damaging. It retains moisture, which can cause tiles to deteriorate, lift, or rot. Over time, this can lead to leaks and costly repairs.
Q2: Can I use a pressure washer to clean moss off my roof?
A: It’s not recommended, a Pressure washer in the wrong hands can strip protective granules from tiles and even force water under them, causing further damage. We use a professional approach with different tooling and sometimes a chemical treatment instead.
Q3: What is the best time of year to remove moss from my roof?
A: Spring and Summer are ideal. These seasons typically offer dry weather, making it easier and safer to work on the roof and allowing treatments to dry and be effective. But this is not set in stone and all year round is possible.
Q4: How long does chemical treatment take to work?
A: Most moss-killing treatments begin working within a few hours but the full effect may take several weeks to a year. The dead moss will gradually break down and wash away with wet weather conditions.
Q5: Are moss-killing chemicals safe for pets and plants?
A: Many are not safe if ingested or if they come into contact with garden areas. This is where knowledge rules supreme and our experience is second to none.
